Bird Netting — Installation Process
Site Assessment
We inspect the balcony or terrace to determine the netting configuration. We identify anchor points (walls, ceiling, railing), measure the opening, and plan the net layout to ensure complete coverage with no gaps where birds could enter.
Frame/Anchor Preparation
For balconies, we typically mount eye-hooks or anchor bolts along the ceiling edge and outer railing. For terraces, we install a perimeter frame of galvanised steel wire to support the net canopy. All hardware is stainless steel to resist rust.
Net Installation
The net is stretched across the opening, secured to all anchor points with cable ties and tension wire, and inspected for complete coverage. We pay special attention to corners and edges where pigeons typically find gaps.
Final Inspection
We verify that the net is taut (no sagging that birds could land on), that there are no gaps larger than 25mm, and that the attachment points are secure. The tension wire is adjusted to ensure the net can withstand monsoon wind loads without loosening.

Annually
Inspect for any tears or loose attachment points — monsoon winds or construction debris nearby can occasionally damage a section. Small tears can be patched with netting repair clips (we provide a repair kit with every installation). For full replacement, the frame and anchors are reused — only the net panel is replaced at approximately 60% of the original cost.
What NOT to do
Do not hang heavy items from the net. Do not try to push through the net to access the outside (use the designated opening if one was included in the design). If you notice any sagging or looseness, contact GrillNet for a free tension adjustment under warranty.
The Pigeon Problem — Why It Matters
Pigeon droppings are not just unsightly — they are a health hazard. Dried pigeon droppings release fungal spores that can cause histoplasmosis (a respiratory infection), cryptococcosis (which can affect the brain and nervous system), and psittacosis (a bacterial infection). Children, elderly people, and immunocompromised individuals are especially vulnerable.
Beyond health, pigeon droppings are corrosive. They damage paint, concrete, metal surfaces, and stone cladding. A balcony left uncovered for one monsoon season can show permanent staining that no amount of cleaning will fully remove.
