What is Bird Netting?

If you live in an apartment in Ranchi, you know the pigeon problem. They roost in balcony corners, build nests behind AC outdoor units, leave droppings that stain surfaces and carry diseases, and their persistent cooing starts at dawn. Terraces become unusable. Balcony furniture gets ruined. The smell, the mess, and the health risk make uncovered balconies a liability rather than an amenity.

GrillNet Ranchi installs professional anti-bird netting that creates a permanent barrier between your living space and the bird population. Our nets are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or nylon, UV-stabilised to last through years of Ranchi sun and monsoon, and manufactured to be nearly transparent — from a few feet away, the net is effectively invisible.

This is a humane solution. Birds are not harmed, trapped, or poisoned. They are simply prevented from entering and nesting in your space. The net creates a physical barrier that redirects birds to open areas — no cruelty, no chemicals, no cleanup.

We have installed bird netting on individual balconies, full building facades, apartment society common areas, commercial terraces, warehouse openings, and even temple structures across Ranchi and Jharkhand. Our experience covers every installation scenario, from a single 3rd-floor balcony to a 20-storey building exterior net.

How It Works

Bird Netting — Installation Process

Site Assessment
1

Site Assessment

We inspect the balcony or terrace to determine the netting configuration. We identify anchor points (walls, ceiling, railing), measure the opening, and plan the net layout to ensure complete coverage with no gaps where birds could enter.

Frame/Anchor Preparation
2

Frame/Anchor Preparation

For balconies, we typically mount eye-hooks or anchor bolts along the ceiling edge and outer railing. For terraces, we install a perimeter frame of galvanised steel wire to support the net canopy. All hardware is stainless steel to resist rust.

Net Installation
3

Net Installation

The net is stretched across the opening, secured to all anchor points with cable ties and tension wire, and inspected for complete coverage. We pay special attention to corners and edges where pigeons typically find gaps.

Final Inspection
4

Final Inspection

We verify that the net is taut (no sagging that birds could land on), that there are no gaps larger than 25mm, and that the attachment points are secure. The tension wire is adjusted to ensure the net can withstand monsoon wind loads without loosening.

Why Choose This

Benefits of Bird Netting

Health Protection

Eliminates the disease risk from pigeon droppings — histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, and psittacosis are all prevented by simply keeping birds out of your living space.

Property Protection

Stops the corrosive damage that droppings cause to paint, concrete, metal, and stone. Protects outdoor furniture, AC units, and anything stored on balconies or terraces.

95% Transparency

Our HDPE nets are nearly invisible from a distance. Your balcony view remains unaffected. The net blends with the sky and surroundings within days of installation — most visitors will not notice it unless you point it out.

Completely Humane

No birds are harmed. The net is a physical barrier, not a trap. Birds simply cannot enter the netted space and will redirect to open areas. This is the method recommended by animal welfare organisations.

Monsoon and UV Durable

Our UV-stabilised HDPE nets are designed for outdoor use in tropical climates. They withstand direct sun, heavy rain, wind, and the temperature swings of Ranchi’s seasons. Standard HDPE lasts 5+ years; heavy-duty versions last 7+ years.

Low Cost, High Impact

At ₹25/sq ft, bird netting is the most affordable home safety installation we offer. A standard 60 sq ft balcony costs approximately ₹1,500 to net completely — an investment that saves thousands in cleaning, painting, and health costs over the next 5 years.

Maintenance Guide

Annually

Inspect for any tears or loose attachment points — monsoon winds or construction debris nearby can occasionally damage a section. Small tears can be patched with netting repair clips (we provide a repair kit with every installation). For full replacement, the frame and anchors are reused — only the net panel is replaced at approximately 60% of the original cost.

What NOT to do

Do not hang heavy items from the net. Do not try to push through the net to access the outside (use the designated opening if one was included in the design). If you notice any sagging or looseness, contact GrillNet for a free tension adjustment under warranty.

The Pigeon Problem — Why It Matters

Pigeon droppings are not just unsightly — they are a health hazard. Dried pigeon droppings release fungal spores that can cause histoplasmosis (a respiratory infection), cryptococcosis (which can affect the brain and nervous system), and psittacosis (a bacterial infection). Children, elderly people, and immunocompromised individuals are especially vulnerable.

Beyond health, pigeon droppings are corrosive. They damage paint, concrete, metal surfaces, and stone cladding. A balcony left uncovered for one monsoon season can show permanent staining that no amount of cleaning will fully remove. The ammonia in pigeon urine also damages fabric — outdoor furniture, cushions, and clothes hung to dry are all at risk.

Traditional deterrents like spikes, ultrasonic devices, and reflective strips provide temporary relief at best. Pigeons adapt to spikes within weeks, ultrasonic devices have no proven effectiveness, and reflective strips lose their impact after the first rain. Netting is the only permanent, proven, humane solution.
